Club Dredd was first named Red Rocks founded in 1987 by seven UP students in Timog, Quezon City. And in the middle of 1990, Red Rocks closed its door and the Pinoy Rock Bands feels the hunger of place to jam.
The club officially opened in December 8, 1990 in the same location, now carrying the name of Club Dredd. It is the place for the bands in 1990’s from underground band up to the mainstream. It became the home of Pinoy Rock Bands. It became the hangout of different bands like the Eraserheads, Rivermaya , Parokya ni Edgar and other starting bands. Teeth, Datu's Tribe, Parokya ni Edgar, Tribal Fish, Sugar Hiccup, Greyhoundz and Put3Ska are some of the bands who born in Club Dredd. And in February 1993, it was closed again due to financial problem.
After a year...
January 1994. it was reopened again in a bigger venue in EDSA, Cubao. After four and a half years, the management decided to close the door once more. But the guys behind Club Dredd never stop the spirit of it. They put up a website Club Dredd Online in 1999; photo exhibit (Back From the Dredd) in the month of December 2005; radio show (radioDredd) in NU 107 hoted by Rob and Patrick with DJ Skul and Prof Ramone in March 2006 up to April 2007.
And in June 2007, it was reopened once again in the heart of Quezon City in the second floor of Gweilos Bar in Eastwood City, Libis. The place was more elegant and not the same ambiance as Club Dredd was known for. Most of the bands and musicians who played here are on the mainstream. They continue the spirit of rock and music of the new genres.
