Mt. Maculot

Mt. Maculot, Rockies
Mt. Maculot was one of the famous mountain destinations for beginners and tourist in Batangas. It is located in located in Cuenca, Batangas. Sad to say that Mt. Maculot is one of the devastated mountains due to waste and garbage left by visitors and locals on the place. One major factor for waste in the campsite is the so called “7-Eleven in the mountain”, a local store in the campsite that offers foods, drinks and snacks. It becomes the main source of waste especially in the campsite. But beside of its uncleanliness it offers a great overlooking especially in the “Rockies”. You will experience an overlooking of Taal Volcano plus nearby mountains in Batangas and Cavite areas near the Taal Lake. So let's start caring for Mt. Maculot, let us bring all our waste down the mountain. Let's make it a clean-up drive every time we visit any mountain.

Maculot have two different trails. First one is the traditional trail where in it takes only one and half to two hours of trekking going to the campsite. And from the campsite it will take 15-20 minutes trek going to the “Rockies”. The other trail is the Traverse from the Grotto going to the Rockies where you will pass by the Summit of Mt. Maculot. But it takes 5 hours of trekking from the jump-off going to the campsite. The trail composes of forest area where some part of the forest has plants with thorns and “teka-teka”. Some hardcore mountaineers descend down the West Wall by means of rappelling down the west side of Mt. Maculot.
