Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish (Our Lady of Grace)

Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish Church (Our Lady of Grace) is one of the oldest church here in the Metro. It was constructed in 1599 by the Augustinian friars, the oldest religious order in the Philippines.

"The foundation of this church and monastery of the Augustinian Order were laid in 1601 and construction work was finished in 1629. In 1603, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe was chosen as the titular patroness of the church. The church withstood the earthquakes of 1645, 1658, 1754, and 1863. The masonry roof of the church collapsed in the earthquakes of 1880 and the structure was rebuilt in 1882 by Rev Fr. Jose Corujedo, OSA site of an orphan asylum and trade school administered by the Augustinian Order for the benefit of the children of the victims of the cholera of 1882. Both Church and Monastery were gutted by fire in February 1899 during the early skirmish between Americans and Filipinos."

The feast day of Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish is held every May 15 of the year.It is located 7440 Bernardino St., Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City. It is near Loyola Memorial Chapel in Guadalupe. You may visit this link for Schedule of Activities of the parish.

Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish is known for wedding location, but you cannot take photos of the church freely. In order to take photos of the church, you need to ask permission first on the Administration office, before having one. Good thing that I have a chance to ask permission to take this photos during the baptismal of my god daughter.

The architecture was marked with Doric columns and leaf carvings. At the right side located is a big bell tower and at the door at the left side of the altar that leads out to an old cemetery. And beside the church, there is a parish school.
