Sanctum was came from the real experience of Andrew Wight’s ultimate explorations. Andrew Wight was the expedition leader of the original 1988 caving team who explore the Pannikin Plane Cave and also the producer and writer of Sanctum.

It happens in one of the longest underwater cave systems in Australia, the Pannikin Plain Cave. The team was composed of 22 members including Andrew as the team leader. At their last day of expedition, a rare cyclonic storm hit the area and the flash flood passed and stuck in the cave entrance like a funnel pouring with water that causes the avalanche and collapsing of the cave boulders and blocking the main entrance. That caused the 15 team members to be trapped and they need to look for other passage. Everyone survived with the help of their skills and a specialized cave radio that can penetrate through the solid rocks which invented by Ron Allum, one of the renowned expedition divers on their team. It takes 30 hours of disastrous escape from underwater cave and they finally reached the surface.

  5. This really was a movie for everyone. Not just a movie to watch, but a movie that gets to the closest thing about how raw and deadly the nature can be, especially when you loose your head. If anybody is reading this comment or the previous comments, I deffinetly recommend the movie.
